Vicky Pettitt the owner has been a Swimming Teacher since 1997 and has taught privately and publicly in many establishments. Her passion is swimming and she feels that everyone should be able to have the opportunity of developing the skill and art of swimming. To pursue this passion and to share it with others, she established the Splish Splosh Swimming School. The first location was The Mount School in York, where Splish Splosh was born on a Saturday afternoon in April 2005. The swimming schools are now located in York, Leeds, Pocklington, Wakefield and Hull.
Learning to swim should be an enjoyable and safe pursuit and these are the main principles of the school. Pupils not only benefit from the potentially life-saving ability to swim but vital exercise is also achieved.
At any of the schools, there is only ever a maximum class size of eight being taught in the pool at any one time. For children aged 6 months to 4 years class sizes never exceed 6. This reduces the risk of accident and ensures there are no distractions. It also gives adequate learning time to each pupil.
The swimming school provides all the necessary equipment to aid the pupils in their learning. This includes foam floats, arm rings, inflatable swim vests and woggles. Due to the affiliation with the Amateur Swimming Association, pupils are able to progress to different skill levels and, when the correct standard is achieved, earn certificates and badges.
